A sonnet

I have heard it all

Their voices still ringing in my head

And echoing through the halls

“You will never get ahead”

“Because you are a woman”

I am tired of their replies

It is all too common

Yet I will continue to hold my head up high

Because I refuse to succumb to the doubts they voice to me

No longer will I allow myself to mirror their beliefs

I know I deserve this opportunity

They cannot limit what I can achieve

I am ready to shatter glass ceilings

It is finally time to start healing
